If you’ve never loved a dog like they were a family member, then you probably want to skip over this post.

If you’ve ever had the privilege of a dog’s loyalty and affection and choose to continue reading, then you might want to grab some tissues.

Anne — age 13

The Beginning

A tiny little Weimaraner pup was born in October 2009 on a farm in Salem, Missouri. By the time her little puppy eyes were open, we had chosen her as ours and given her the name Anne (pronounced Ah-na). She lived with her mama and siblings until she was eight weeks old, and on a snowy December day, Colin and I drove four hours to pick her up and bring her home to live with us.

The same place would be her home for the next 15 years.

Anne — age 4 weeks old

At just 24 years old, I knew nothing about raising a puppy, especially Weimeraners. Anne was rambunctious beyond my wildest expectations. And she was so smart. She constantly got into stuff, ate things she shouldn’t, and destroyed the house Colin and I had just bought a few months prior.

She caused a lot of turmoil in our early relationship.
